Announcing a Strategic Partnership Agreement between IEP and the Collab Group

IEP and the Collab Group are pleased to announce that a formal Memorandum of Understanding has been signed and we have formed a strategic partnership agreement for the mutual benefit of both organisations and their respective memberships. Collab Group is a national membership body of FE colleges and their two main pillars of work are policy influencing and commercial activities. Collab Group offers services to both public and private sector clients and works with their members to deliver nationwide apprenticeship and training services to large employers, as well as expert consultation services relating to the skills and education sector. Their policy influencing works to raise the profile and prestige of further education colleges and demonstrates the critical role they play in creating a more skilled and prosperous society.

IEP is the membership body for employability professionals, dedicated to supporting the people who support others gain work, progress in work and retain work. IEP’s vision is 'Employability professionals everywhere are the best they can be'. IEP’s purpose is to empower individuals to perform to a professional standard, champion employability as a recognised profession, secure employer recognition and create a network of opportunity. This Strategic Partnership Agreement aims to support the IEP and Collab Group to promote the employability, college and FE sector, finding mutually convenient ways to work together over the coming year that support and push forward each organisation’s strategic agenda and that are in line with each organisation’s mission and values. Joint activities will include:

  • Providing ‘thought leadership’ across both sectors around strategy, policy and service development and design.
  • Co-ordinate PR and communications aimed at publicising present activity and shaping the future.
  • Enabling the development of policy that serves both sectors well.
  • Working on joint events and the development of a joint network.
  • Support for Colleges who are bidding for or already supporting the ‘employability’ sector to utilise areas of learning and networking provided by the Institute of Employability Professionals.
  • Developing a potential ‘joint’ or ‘discounted’ offer for partners at both an operational and strategic level.

Ian Pretty, Chief Executive of Collab Group said; “Collab Group is delighted to form a strategic partnership with the Institute of Employability Professionals. The partnership comes at a crucial time in which the link between education and employment will be more vital than ever. Collab Group colleges will play a vital role in enabling economic recovery and helping people transition from education into work.

The current economic situation means that these kinds of collaborative relationships are more important than ever. There are natural synergies between the work of Collab Group and IEP. We hope to work together to influence the policy agenda around how we can create a skills led economic recovery that creates opportunities for skills acquisition and supports individuals and industry.

We look forward to working together over the coming months to generate solutions which will expand employment opportunities and help the economy to recover as quickly as possible.”

Scott Parkin FIEP, Chief Executive of IEP said; “This strategic partnership will further enable the IEP to reach wider sections of employability, including the careers and FE sector; to strengthen our abilities as practitioners and to improve our delivery at this crucial and challenging time. We are delighted to be working with Collab Group and believe the synergy between our organisational aims and ambitions will be hugely beneficial to the wider employability and skills sector, as well as the people we all support.”
