Highbury College is in the city of Portsmouth in South England and trains almost 10,000 students. It has over 800 learners undertaking apprenticeships and maintains strong employer partnerships. For more than 50 years they have been at the heart of the local community and offer a variety of both academic and vocational courses.

A former access to higher education student is "excited" at winning a regional Prince’s Trust award.

Jay Kelly took home the Ascential Educational Achiever Award after attending The Prince’s Trust and TK Maxx & Homesense London and South East Awards.

The 21-year-old was presented the accolade at the grand ceremony, held at the British Museum, which recognises young people who have overcome barriers, developed new skills and improved their education prospects.

When a key member of staff was due to retire Marshall Havard knew it would take someone special to fill the void.

The accountancy firm turned to Highbury College who matched them with apprentice Kharmen Ford who had everything it takes to learn the ropes while completing a level 3 qualification in accountancy accredited by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).
