Collab Group: London Capital Colleges and CIPD have produced a "Point of View" setting out how employers, government and further education colleges in London can work together to provide a joined up skills and employment system that serves the needs of all Londoners.

The London skills system is undergoing a period of profound change: from the impacts of Brexit to the disruption posed by automation, uncertainties about the shape of the future workforce are evident. To respond flexibly to these changes, it is vital that industry has access to a wide talent pool to help grow and support the London economy.

One answer to these challenges lies in developing and delivering training provision that equips learners with core employability skills and responds directly to economic needs. The wider reform agenda around apprenticeships, T-levels, devolution and Institutes of technology, provides a platform for shared conversations between colleges, Government and industry to create a truly dynamic and inclusive skills system.

Further education colleges, with their focus on employability, are uniquely positioned to offer solutions to the skills and employment challenges facing the Capital, and are ready to work to create a joined-up skills system that works to give London the skills system it deserves.
